Overview
A concrete slab is only as good as what is underneath it. Appalachian Excavation & Concrete pours residential and commercial slabs across Asheville with excavation, compaction and drainage handled by our own crew, which is exactly why our slabs do not sink at the corners two winters later.
We build slabs for patios, sheds, hot tubs, garages, equipment pads, parking areas and warehouse floors. Thickness, reinforcement and joint layout are matched to the load the slab will actually carry — a hot tub pad and a skid-steer pad are not the same pour, and we do not treat them the same.
Every project follows the same disciplined sequence: excavate and remove unsuitable soil, install and compact stone base, set forms to correct slope, place rebar or mesh where needed, pour, screed, finish and cut control joints before curing. Getting joints right is one of the cheapest ways to control where concrete cracks.
If you have an existing slab that is cracking, sinking or pooling water, we evaluate the cause before quoting a fix. Sometimes the answer is a repair and better drainage; sometimes the honest answer is that the base failed and a replacement will cost you less over time. We will tell you which.
Why Choose Us
What's included
Slab installation for patios, shed pads, hot tub pads and other residential needs — stable, level and built for long-term performance.
Slabs for warehouses, parking pads and equipment foundations, built to handle higher loads, daily traffic and long-term use.
Repairs for cracking, surface wear and uneven areas. We evaluate the cause of the damage and restore slab strength to prevent future issues.
Rebar or mesh reinforcement to support machinery, vehicles or structural weight more effectively.
Grading, compaction and drainage planning that reduce settling and cracking over the life of the slab.
Our Process
We walk the property, review your goals, and talk through soil, slope and drainage conditions before anything is quoted.
You receive a clear written estimate with scope, materials, timeline and pricing — no vague allowances or hidden add-ons.
Our crew mobilizes on schedule, keeps the site clean and safe, and keeps you updated at every stage of the pour or dig.
We walk the finished work with you, confirm drainage and finish quality, and stand behind the results long term.

Patio and shed slabs are typically four inches, while garage, vehicle and equipment pads usually call for five to six inches with reinforcement. We size the slab to the load after reviewing your plans.
Common signs include cracking, uneven sections, sinking, surface wear and water pooling. Early repairs help prevent larger structural problems and higher replacement costs.
